Farhan calling Deepika!

Posted by: sunil15 on: February 5, 2009

deepika-tennis Shah Rukh Khan’s health problem has just claimed its first casualty. Farhan Akhtar’s Don sequel, which was supposed to start at the end of the year, has been postponed. Says Farhan, “With Shah Rukh’s dates being a problem now, I don’t know when I’ll be able to start Don 2. I’m very clear that it will be made only with Shah Rukh and Priyanka Chopra. Let’s see when it happens.”
Instead of Don 2, Farhan is now planning to direct a romantic film. “It won’t be a teenybopper romance, but a mature love story. I hope to start it after I finish acting in my new film Kartik Calling Kartik, for which Deepika Padukone has just been signed.”
Farhan explains why it had to be only Deepika for this venture. “We needed a very beautiful heroine… in fact, we needed a stunner.” Kartik Calling Kartik will go on the floors in April. It’s quite evident that Deepika is taller than Farhan, but he’s absolutely fine with that. “I’ve always looked up to women anyway. It was the script that demanded Deepika, not me,” he says.

Look who’s Goabound!

Director Venkat Prabhu (of Chennai 600028 and Saroja fame) is a determined man! Venkat, who had earlier announced that he was likely to have Hollywood actress Jessica Alba play the character of a British tourist in Goa, his next film, has had to face disappointment, if sources are to be believed . The actress, we hear, had asked for a salary of around three million US Dollars (approximately Rs 14 crore), while the entire budget of this film is said to be around just Rs six crore! Although Alba won’t play a role in his film, Venkat Prabhu is one who will not give up easily. Sources say that the director is still on the lookout for a white woman to be cast in the film. Goa features Jai, Siva, Vaibhav and Premgi in the lead, with Yuvan Shankar Raja likely to compose music. Also, the director has reportedly decided to cast Sneha as one of the heroines in the film, which will be produced by Soundarya Rajinikanth’s Ocher Studios along with Warner Brothers.

Eyes on Kollywood

Posted by: sunil15 on: January 22, 2009

Sharanya Mohan is slowly but surely making her presence felt in Kollywood. Chennai Times catches up with the actress…

A little friendly competition never hurts. At least, that is the impression one gets if one is to go by the experience of Sharanya Mohan, whose performance in her last film A Aa E Ee has come in for praise.
The film, directed by Sabapathy and produced by AVM, has Sharanya, Aravind, Navdeep, and Monica playing important roles along with Prabhu and Manorama.

“There was a small competition between Aravind, Navdeep, Monica and me. Each one wanted his or her performance to be the best in the movie,” the actress says and adds, “However, everybody was sportive and I received a lot of valuable tips from my co-artistes.”
The actress is de
lighted with the response to her character in the film. “Recently, all the artistes along with the director watched the film in a theatre to know the audience’s reaction. It was there that I realised that my character had scored,” she says, adding, “People have accepted me.”
The lady, who was introduced by Fazil, began her acting career as a child. She made a brief appearance in the Tamil film Kadhalukku Mariyadhai, a super hit. “I was in third standard then,” she laughs before saying, “I enjoyed doing the song Aanandha Kuilin Paatu… in the film.”
She later did a couple of movies in Malayalam before returning to Kollywood with a brief role in Oru Naal Oru Kanavu. Then, a couple of years later, Yaaradi Nee Mohini happened. “Although I got many offers after Oru Naal Oru Kanavu, I had
no intention to act as I was more into dancing. Then, Babu sir called me and told me that he had a sister’s character for me in Yaaradi Nee Mohini. I was hesitant at first but my uncle insisted that I should give acting a shot. He said I could always quit if I didn’t like it,” she informs.
Her performance in Yaaradi Nee Mohini fetched her more exciting projects, including A Aa E Ee and Vennila Kabaddi Kuzhu, a film that has raised expectations (VKK). “I play the role of a village girl in VKK, which is to hit the screens shortly. The movie has been shot in Palani. In fact, the role was a big challenge as there were few dialogues and I had to convey ideas with eye expressions,”she says.
But that must have been easy for her as she is a trained dancer. “I’ve learnt Mohiniattam, Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi. But then, this particular role wasn’t easy. In dance, you are trained to give expressions that are strong. In this film, however, I had to use subtle expressions,”
she explains. The actress, who also has other projects lined up, says that she will not do glamour roles. “I prefer character roles to glamour roles because they suit me better,” she signs off. m a nig a n d a n.k r @ tim e s g r o u p.c o m

Asin likes acting with ‘Sirs’

Posted by: sunil15 on: January 13, 2009

We’re surrounded by ‘A’s these days — two beautiful ones called Anushka (Sharma) and Asin. Asin’s on a success wave, with Ghajini proving to be a big hit. So, we get talking to the beautiful girl about her Khan-tastic experience. She has worked with Aamir Khan in Ghajini and Salman Khan in London Dreams, and says that she dare not address the famous Khans by their first names. “They are very senior, and that’s why I address them as sirs,” she confesses. By the way, even Priyanka Chopra addresses SRK as ‘Sir’. Looks like these Khans are Bollywood’s ‘Dark Knights’, eh? Wonder what Sir Shah Rukh, Sir Aamir and Sir Salman have to say about this? asin-e3e

Brad Pitt loves changing nappies. The Burn After Reading star — who raises six children with partner Angelina Jolie — insists he is very skilled at dealing with soiled diapers. Brad — who currently has his hands full with sixmonth-old twins Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline — said, “I’m fairly good with a nappy and all that. You know the secret of a good nappy-change? You’ve got to do it quick. There’s something about the air contact that makes them want to go again, you’ve got to be speedy. I must say I’m pretty quick, but I’ve had a lot of practice.”
Meanwhile, Angelina was recently reportedly warned not to have another child The 33-year-old actress, whose other biological child with Brad is two-year-old daughter Shiloh, has been told it could damage her health if she falls pregnant again. A source said, “Her previous pregnancies ended with emergency caesarean sections. She’s been told that, at the least, she should not get pregnant for a year after her last delivery, and it would be safer if she did not get pregnant again, ever.”

Kate reveals her fab figure secret

Posted by: sunil15 on: January 5, 2009

British actress, Kate Winslet has been receiving rave reviews for her svelte figure. She says she achieved her perfect figure courtesy a simple stretching exercise regime that she has been following for a while now. The mother of two, who was once an overweight teenager, insists she has slimmed down thanks to regular Pilates sessions – a kind of stretching exercise – at her home. Kate has been practicing this ever since the birth of her second child five years ago. A website quoted her as saying, “I eat sensibly and I don’t stuff down chocolate biscuits. I don’t go to the gym because I don’t have time, but I do Pilates workout DVDs for 20 minutes or more every day at home.”
Winslet also appeared on the cover of a fashion magazine’s December issue and the photos were so raunchy that they sparked controversies
that the pictures had been airbrushed. When it was revealed that it was definitely Kate , people wouldn’t stop congratulating her!

Emma Watson’s proud of her generous friends

Posted by: sunil15 on: January 5, 2009

Emma Watson — who is worth £2.8 million — says her friends never let her treat them when they go out. The Harry Potter star — who has become one of Britain’s richest teenagers thanks to her role as Hermione Granger — admits her fortune can sometimes cause problems among her pals. She said, “My friends are very proud like that, that’s why I love them. They would be embarrassed if I paid for stuff, and if I ever try, they always say, ‘What are you doing? I want to pay half’.” Emma also revealed that her friends find it difficult when fans approach her in public. She added, “It’s weird for them, especially when people recognise me and come up to me. It’s awkward for them, but they are very good about it. They are very protective, which is sweet.”

John’s advise for Sameera

Posted by: sunil15 on: January 5, 2009

John Abraham is doing many-a-good-deed these days. After working with Nagesh Kukunoor in Aashayein (which hopefully will release sometime this year), he swears by the director, so much so that when Sameera Reddy was offered a role in Nagesh’s Yeh Hausla, it was Johnny boy who asked her to grab it with both hands. And grab she did. Now Sexy Sam can’t stop raving about Nagesh! Bollywood is so full of the vicious circles!

Flying high

Vidya Balan tweaked her birthday ritual a teeny-weeny bit this year. Like every year, she spent the day with her sister Priya and her brother-in-law Kedar. Only this time, she went paragliding at Wai in Satara.
Mid-December, Vidya returned to Mumbai after completing the shoot of Ishqiya. Our source from Wai said, “For her birthday on January 1, Vidya stayed at the hotel where the unit had stayed for Ishqiya. She asked for the same room and got it too. She has fallen in l o v e w i t h Wai. The hotel had appointed a French tutor to teach paragliding. As soon as Vidya saw the paragliding session, she wanted to try it. She couldn’t wait to go up in the air.”
A very joyous Vidya said, “The paragliding experience was great fun. I didn’t get scared and enjoyed it to the hilt. I will never forget it.”
Vidya and her parents travelled from Mumbai to Wai and her sister and brother-in-law flew in from Delhi to spend time with the birthday girl.
